Bear Creek offers 86 acres of slopes, trail and terrain parks. It is also home to Mid-Atlantic Regional Series (MARC) and USA Cycling National Championship. The slopes and trails used in the event are geared towards intermediate to advance skier, snowboarder, rider and runner.
Participants will make a one run from the top of the mountain in their skis or snowboard into transition area to change and switch into mountain biking gears. They will then ride their bikes 5 miles back to the same transition area to change and switch into running gears to do a 5K trail run.
All INDIVIDUAL participants and the Biker for RELAY TEAM must be AT LEAST 12 years of age as of 12:01 AM on March 9, 2014. Skier, snowboarder and trail runner for RELAY TEAM must be at least 9 years of age as of 12:01 AM on March 9, 2014.
Leg 2 is a 5 mile mountain biking around the resort, labeled as Trail #1 in white on the map. It will be a loop that starts and ends at the transition area. The trails are considered technical but rideable. They are all rugged singletrack and doubletracks with plenty of rocks, roots and a few bridges. The rider should also expect a few climbs, switch backs and downhills. Please note that the trail is not for beginners.
TA: Transition Area
The transition area will be open at 7:00 am on Race Day. It is going to be a first come, first serve basis. Saving of spots will not be allowed. Only the participants will be allowed in TA. Participant must wear bibs to be allowed entry. TA will be kept secured by the race staff from 7:00 am - 12:00 nn on race day.
